Animal Welfare

All animals have intrinsic value, separate from the needs of humans. People have a duty to minimise cruelty to animals from human activity. The welfare of animals must be respected with regard for both the survival of species, and the protection of individual animals.

Our native wildlife and their habitats must be protected, through the strengthening of WA animal welfare laws. This, together with informing community members about the needs of animals and the impacts on animals from human behaviour, is the best way to raise animals’ status and end their exploitation.

Alison and the Greens have a vision for a Western Australia in which animals are free from exploitation, cruelty and abuse.

Alison will continue to advocate for improving animal welfare and protections, with a focus on the intensive farming of livestock; live export of animals, the treatment of animals in entertainment and the management and welfare of companion animals.
