LGBTI COMMUNITY — SPECIALISED SERVICES

308. Hon ALISON XAMON to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health:

I refer to “Suicide Prevention 2020” and to the identification within that plan of LGBTI people as a priority population. Will the minister please advise what government funding is available for the provision of specialised services for LGBTI people in the following subcategories: counselling; peer-based support; advocacy; and any other suicide prevention and early intervention initiatives?

LIVING PROUD — LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANSSEXUAL, INTERSEX COMMUNITY SUPPORT

225. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Mental Health:

I refer to the award-winning organisation Living Proud, which has been providing support, information and resources to the Western Australian lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, intersex community for almost 40 years.

(1) Is the minister aware that state government funding of Living Proud is due to end on 30 June 2017, placing the organisation’s viability in jeopardy?

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [5.26 pm]: I rise tonight to make some comments about concerns that have been raised about me that have now made their way to the media about the appropriateness of me being appointed, as a Greens member, to the committee that oversights the Corruption and Crime Commission. I wanted an opportunity to respond to some of those comments.
