SHENTON PARK REHABILITATION HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT SITE — BUSHLAND CLEARING — LEMNOS STREET

220. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:

I refer to my questions without notice 60 and 116 regarding the Shenton Park rehabilitation hospital site. Will the minister please table —

(a)  the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation letter LandCorp received on 6 February 2018, referenced in the answer to question 60(4); and

(b)  the email and letter sent to DWER dated 22 December and referenced in tabled paper 1163?

LandCorp “makes a mockery” of community as it ignores 1,001 who opposed clearing at Lemnos Street

Greens Member for North Metropolitan Region Hon Alison Xamon MLC has renewed her call to the Government to rethink plans for the design of the Montario Quarter, since LandCorp “made a mockery” of community engagement processes regarding the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital site.

In Parliament this week, Ms Xamon accused LandCorp of “exactly the sort of behaviour that makes people suspicious and distrustful of Government agencies” since it requested that the clearing permit relating to the site be frozen while it pursues a subdivision application.

116. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Environment:

I refer to the answers to my questions without notice 10 and 60 of last week regarding clearing on the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital site.

(1)  When did LandCorp request suspension of consideration of clearing permit application CPS 7781/1?

(2)  Has the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation been consulted regarding the current subdivision application?

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [9.52 pm]: I rise because I need to talk about something to do with the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital site. I have spoken about this issue before. I want to talk about what has happened with the infill development. This site is otherwise known as Montario Quarter. As I said before in this place, I recognise that infill is needed, but we must be looking at good infill. Particularly on the Swan coastal plain, we really need to be looking at green infill that will prioritise and protect our natural assets.
