MENTAL HEALTH — “THE IMPACT OF FIFO WORK PRACTICES ON MENTAL HEALTH” REPORT — RECOMMENDATIONS

2829. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:

I refer to the government response to Recommendation 8, of the ‘Impact of FIFO Work Practices on Mental Health’ report, and I ask:

(a)  how many formal requests for information on non-work related deaths were made in:

(i)  2018–19;

(ii)  2019 to date; and

(b)  how many of these deaths were suicide/suspected suicide?

Hon Alannah MacTiernan replied:

(a)       (i) 2018–19, there were 19 requests; and

(ii) 2019–20 to date, there have been 10 requests.

(b)  Of these requests there were five that appeared to relate to suicide or suspected suicide.
