INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA, BIPHOBIA, INTERSEXISM AND TRANSPHOBIA

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [5.40 pm]: Members, tomorrow is IDAHOBIT. To refresh members’ memories, that stands for the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. It is an opportunity to celebrate the LGBTIQ community, to acknowledge and honour the hard-fought advancements in the rights of LGBTIQ people and to also recognise that there is still much more work to be done. And there is of course still more work to be done.

ABORIGINAL YOUTH SUICIDE

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [6.23 pm]: I rise to speak again about the coroner’s inquest into the deaths of 13 children and young people in the Kimberley. Tonight I would like to speak about the contents of that report that related to our child protection system. As I have mentioned previously, one of the significant strengths of this State Coroner’s report is the individual stories it contains and the insight they provide into the lives of the 13 children and young people.
