SOUTH REGIONAL TAFE — WORKSAFE NOTICE — PUBLIC SECTOR COMMISSIONER INVESTIGATION

748. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the WorkSafe notice against South Regional TAFE in February 2017 and the Public Sector Commissioner’s investigation into the culture and leadership of the Orana, and I ask:

(a)  has WorkSafe been notified of the outcome of the risk assessment of “psychosocial hazards in the workplace”;

(b)  how many recommendations did the Public Sector Commissioner make regarding the culture and leadership of Orana:

(i) how many of these recommendations have been fully implemented;

(c) how many of recommendations did the Public Sector Commissioner make regarding the college as a whole:

(i) how many of these recommendations have been completely implemented;

(d)  has the implementation of the recommendations been audited;

(e)  have the findings and recommendations of this investigation been shared across the TAFE colleges; and

(f)  will the Minister please table the report on the investigation, redacted as appropriate to maintain the privacy of individual staff?

Hon Sue Ellery replied:

(a)  No. There was no requirement for South Regional TAFE to notify WorkSafe of the outcome of the risk assessment of psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

(b)  Four.

(i) Two.

A third recommendation was partially implemented.

(c) Nil.

(i) Not applicable.

(d)  Implementation is being overseen by the Governing Council of South Regional TAFE.

(e)  No.

(f)  No. As the Examination was undertaken using the Public Sector Commissioner’s powers, any request for the report to be released should be directed to the Commissioner for his consideration.
