SEX AND/OR GENDER STATUS CHANGE — LAW REFORM COMMISSION REPORT

1234. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:

I refer to the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia’s report “Project 108: Final Report: Review of Western Australian legislation in relation to the registration or change of a person sex and/or gender status relating to sex characteristics” tabled in December 2018.

(1)  Has the government fully considered the report?

(2)  If yes to (1)—

(a)  are there any other recommendations that the government will not be accepting in addition to recommendations 5 and 6 mentioned at the time of tabling; and

(b)  has any progress been made toward implementing any of the recommendations; and, if so, which ones?

(3)  If no to (1), when does the minister expect the report will be considered?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)  The government is still considering the report.

(2)  Not applicable.

(3)  The Attorney General is unable to place a time frame on the completion of this work.
