North Metro Issues

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [5.30 pm]: I rise tonight because I want to talk about a range of North Metropolitan Region planning concerns that have steadily been coming into my office over the last few weeks and months. Concerns about planning have been a bit of a constant refrain throughout my entire term in Parliament, but I have found that those concerns became louder after the establishment of the joint development assessment panel system because the JDAPs do not have a majority of local government members.

3076. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Lands:

I refer to the clearing and development being undertaken on the former Bush Forever 325 site for the Ocean Reef Marina and to the recent emails from Iva Hayward-Jackson concerning the possibility of Aboriginal Burials in the area, and I ask:

(a)  have any surveys for Aboriginal Heritage been performed on this area;

(b)  has any consultation with the First Nations people of the area been undertaken; and
