FOETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME DISORDER

253. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:

I refer to the report “When your disability doesn’t fit — Ending discrimination against people with FASD in Western Australian law and policy” and the problematic treatment of foetal alcohol spectrum disorder, given it might not be accompanied by significant intellectual impairment.

(1)  Does the government intend to develop a model definition of “cognitive impairment”, which includes FASD as recommended in this report?

CASHLESS DEBIT CARD TRIAL

(a)  notes the operation of the cashless debit card—CDC—in the East Kimberley and goldfields regions of Western Australia;

(b)  recognises the positive social, health and financial impacts of the trial;

(c)  notes the strong community support for continuation of the trial; and
