PLANNING — JOINT DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT PANELS

HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [5.30 pm]: I rise tonight because I want to talk about a range of North Metropolitan Region planning concerns that have steadily been coming into my office over the last few weeks and months. Concerns about planning have been a bit of a constant refrain throughout my entire term in Parliament, but I have found that those concerns became louder after the establishment of the joint development assessment panel system because the JDAPs do not have a majority of local government members.

SUBI EAST PRECINCT — PRIMARY SCHOOL

1108. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the expected increase of more than 2 000 dwellings and 3 000 residents throughout the Subi East precinct.

(1) Has any modelling been done on the predicted number of additional primary school–aged students this development will bring to the area?

(2) Does the minister anticipate that a new primary school will be required in the area?

HOMELESSNESS — LORD STREET OVERPASS

3151. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the new fence erected near the Lord Street overpass, and I ask:

(a)  did the Department undertake any consultation before erecting the fence, with:

(i)  the Department of Communities;

(ii)  any community sector organisations who deliver homelessness services; and

(iii)  any other individuals or organisations;

NORTH METRO TAFE — DIPLOMA OF INTERPRETING (AUSLAN–ENGLISH)

3152. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to concerns raised by the Australian Sign Language Interpreters Association (ASLIA) regarding North Metro TAFE’s Diploma of Interpreting (Auslan) and the semester one 2020 cohort’s extreme lack of satisfaction with their course, and I ask:

(a)  has the Minister undertaken any investigation of the concerns about the course raised by ASLIA with North Metro TAFE;
