NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME — WA COUNTRY HEALTH SERVICE

1640. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Environment; Disability Services:

I refer to comments made during Legislative Assembly estimates hearings about the possibility of the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) being a service provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and I ask:

(a)  has a decision been made about the ongoing role of WACHS as a service provider;

(b)  if yes to (a):

(i)  what parameters have been agreed to; and

(ii)  is this arrangement intended to be ongoing or part of a longer term transition plan;

(c)  if no to (a), when will a decision be made; and

(d)  what other options are being considered for ensuring access to services in rural and remote regions across Western Australia?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

(a)–(c) WA Country Health Services does not fall under the remit of the Department of Communities. This question should be referred to the Minister for Health for a response.

(d) Access to NDIS services in rural and remote regions is the responsibility of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
