MENTAL HEALTH — INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SUPPORT

2230. Hon Alison Xamon to the parliamentary secretary representing the Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Mental Health:

I refer to the urgent need for better supports for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disability with co-occurring mental illness, and I ask:

(a)  have key documents relating to State-wide policy and service models for people with co-occurring issues been developed;

(b)  if yes to (a), please table the documents; and

(c)  if no to (a):

(i)  when are they due to be finalised;

(ii)  will they be made publicly available; and

(iii)  if no to (c)(ii), why not?

Hon Alanna Clohesy replied:

I am advised:

(a)  Yes.

(b)  A Core Capability Framework (the Framework) for working with people with intellectual disability and co-occurring mental health issues was developed by the Western Australian Council of Social Service.

The Framework has been endorsed by the Mental Health Commission.
