EDUCATION AND TRAINING — PARTICIPATION PROGRAM

752. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the support services offered through the Participation Program to increase enrolment, retention and graduation of students experiencing barriers to training, and I ask:

(a)  In the 2016 calendar year, how many students accessed this program;

(b)  In the 2016 calendar year, how many students referred to this program received:

(i)  mentoring and counselling services;

(ii)  language and literacy services;

(iii)  translation services;

(iv)  transport assistance;

(v)  provision of meals;

(vi)  childcare assistance; and

(vii)  assistance with equipment or facilities; and

(c)  How many case managers are employed to work in the Participation Program:

(i) on average, how many students do they work with in an academic year?

The number of students above is the number of students the service was contracted and available for during 2016. Students may receive more than one of the support services listed above.

(c) The Department of Training and Workforce Development has four case managers. The Department of Training and Workforce Development is unable to provide information relating to the number of case managers employed by the registered training organisations that are involved in the program, as we do not have these figures.
