CORRECTIVE SERVICES — SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP

2418. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Emergency Services; Corrective Services:

I refer to the Sunday Times article of 18 August 2019 about the Special Operations Group, and I ask:

(a)  how many complaints of bullying were made against members of the Special Operations Group in:

(i)  2015–16;

(ii)  2016–17;

(iii)  2017–18; and

(iv)  2018–19;

(b)  how many complaints of harassment were made against members of the Special Operations Group in:

(i)  2015–16;

(ii)  2016–17;

(iii)  2017–18; and

(iv)  2018–19;

(c)  how many of the complaints from (a)(i)–(iv) and (b)(i)–(iv) were formally investigated;

(d)  what were the outcomes of those complaints that were investigated; and

(e)  why were the remaining complaints from (a)(i)–(iv) and (b)(i)–(iv) not investigated?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

(a)       (i) Nil.

(ii) One (Note: Complaint received was inclusive of bullying and harassment.).

(iii) Nil.

(iv) Nil.

(b)       (i) Nil.

(ii) One (Note: Complaint received was inclusive of bullying and harassment and is the same complaint as identified in question (a) (ii))

(iii) Nil.

(iv) Nil.

(c)  The complaint was formally investigated.

(d)  The formal complaint was investigated and it was determined there was a lack of evidence to substantiate the claim. It was subsequently closed.

(e)  No other formal complaints have been raised with the Department.
