COMMERCE AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS — PAY EQUITY UNIT

342. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations:

I refer to the Pay Equity Unit, which was closed by the Barnett Government in 2015, and I ask:

(a)  does the Minister intend to re-establish a Pay Equity Unit;

(b)  if yes to (a), when does the Minister expect the unit to be operational;

(c)  if yes to (a), how many FTE will be appointed to the unit; and

(d)  if no to (a), why not?

Hon Alannah MacTiernan replied:

(a) Not at the current time.

(b)–(c) Not applicable.

(d) The Government is currently examining appropriate equal remuneration strategies to address pay equity issues.
