2627. Hon Alison Xamon to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Commerce

I refer to Budget Papers page 869, Summary of Expenses regarding Safety and Employment Protections, and ask —

(1) Why has the Government reduced funding to Safety and Employment Protection?

(2) Why does the Government forward estimate ongoing reductions to the funding of this sector?

Hon NORMAN MOORE replied:

The Department of Commerce advises:

(1)-(2) Safety and Employment Protection comprises WorkSafe, EnergySafety and Labour Relations. Funding to WorkSafe and Labour Relations has remained consistent, although there has been a slight reduction because of the non-continuation of grant monies, while funding for EnergySafety is yet to reflect outcomes for their renewed business case. This adjustment will occur in end year review considerations.
