(3)  How many of the school psychologists in (2), are employed directly by schools out of the school’s own budget?

Hon Sue Ellery replied:

(1)  The figures provided are average paid FTE for the financial year ending at the date given in the question. FTE levels will fluctuate from pay period to pay period with higher FTE usually during term and lower FTE during vacation. Average paid FTE for the financial year is usually lower in comparison to the point in time due to seasonality during the school year and the inclusion of vacation periods.

(a)  269.8

(b)  282.7

(c)  290.8

(d)  297.7

(e)  310.7

(f)  324.3

(2)  349.2 FTE (as at 8 March 2018)

(3)  Approximately 99.5 FTE. The only schools that may employ a school psychologist directly are Independent Public Schools which may choose to appoint and manage their own school psychologist. All other school psychologists in regions are appointed by the region, but are hosted at a school. The figure provided is point in time at 8 March 2018. Of the 99.5 FTE, approximately 55.6 FTE are funded from Targeted Initiatives.
