PRISONS — ABORIGINAL VISITORS SCHEME

1209. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Corrective Services:

I refer to the answer to my question on notice 2848 regarding vacant Aboriginal visitors scheme positions at Bunbury Regional Prison, Wooroloo Prison Farm, West Kimberley Regional Prison and Roebourne Regional Prison.

(1)  Have these positions now been filled?

(2)  If not, which positions are still vacant?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)  The Aboriginal visitors scheme position at West Kimberley has been filled and recruitment finalised. All other roles are outstanding.

(2)  The following Aboriginal visitor scheme positions remain vacant: Bunbury Regional Prison, Wooroloo Prison Farm and Roebourne Regional Prison. An Aboriginal visitors scheme recruitment pool for metropolitan and regional areas was advertised on 20 July 2020 and closed on 17 August 2020. The recruitment process is underway, with shortlisting and interviews completed. The panel is currently in the process of completing reference checks.
