HON ALISON XAMON (North Metropolitan) [6.03 pm]: I rise as the lead speaker for the Greens on the Public Health Amendment (Immunisation Requirements for Enrolment) Bill 2019. I have quite a number of things that I would like to get on the record.
Greens spokesperson for health the Hon Alison Xamon MLC is calling on the Government to take immediate action to improve Aboriginal children’s ear health following the release of a damning Auditor General’s report today.
The World Health Organisation has found that Aboriginal children have rates of chronic ear infections at such high rates that it represents an urgent public health problem. By contrast, it found that overall Australian rates are amongst the lowest in the world.
