More must be done to improve water quality if Swan River dolphins are to survive climate change

Greens Member for North Metro Hon Alison Xamon MLC has warned the impacts of climate change could be disastrous for the Swan River and its population of dolphins, unless more is done to reduce pollution and improve water quality.

Speaking in Parliament last night, Hon Xamon said the death of six dolphins since April this year reflected the broader vulnerability of the whole Swan-Canning river system.

2585. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:

I refer to the land cleared to the west and north of Moorpark Avenue in Yanchep, and I ask:

(a)  could the Minister please advise what dust suppression measures are required for land cleared for new developments in the metropolitan area;

(b)  could the Minister please advise who is responsible for carrying out these dust suppression measures; and

SCHOOLS — SUNNINGDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

2584. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the planned development of Sunningdale Primary School in Yanchep, and I ask:

(a)  could the Minister please advise the anticipated enrolments for this school for each of the first five years of operation, with the expected cohorts for each year;

(b)  could the Minister please provide the boundaries of the zoned intake area of this primary school;

PLANNING — SUBIACO OVAL

2416. Hon Alison Xamon to the minister representing the Minister for Lands:

I refer to the future uses of Subiaco Oval, and I ask:

(a)  does the State Government have any agreements with the WA Football Commission regarding access to Subiaco Oval after the planned redevelopment of the grandstand areas; and

(b)  if yes to (a), will the Minister please table any and all such agreements?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

(a)  Yes.
