DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION — VOLUNTARY TARGETED SEPARATION SCHEME

910. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the government’s voluntary separation scheme and operation of the scheme in the Department of Education.

(1) Are any non–school-based positions quarantined from the scheme?

(2) If yes to (1), which ones?

(3) If no to (2), could redundancies include staff from the following areas —

(a)  school psychology services;

(b)  behaviour support services;

(c)  the Institute for Professional Learning; or

(d)  special needs support staff?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)  No. Expressions of interest for the voluntary targeted separation scheme were invited from all permanent members of staff whose substantive positions are not school based.

(2)  Not applicable.

(3)  The scheme is voluntary and includes all areas of the department where the permanent members of staff are not school based. The department will decide which positions will be targeted in the scheme.
