5620. Hon Alison Xamon to the Minister for Mental Health representing the Minister for Water

I refer to the answer to my question on notice No. 4337 in which AWE used 267,814 litres of water to hydraulically fracture the Corybas-1 tight gas well, and I ask —

(1) Did the Department of Water licence any water extraction to be used for this purpose?

(2) If yes to (1) —

(a) how much water was licenced;

(b) where was that water sourced from;

(c) were any conditions applied to the licence;

(d) was metering required;

(e) when was the licence application received; and

(f) when was the licence application approved?


Hon HELEN MORTON replied:

(1) Yes

(2)     (a) 5 500 kilolitres per annum.

(b) Arrowsmith Groundwater Area

(c) Yes

(d) No
