1177. Hon Alison Xamon to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to parents who have a diagnosed intellectual disability and who have children who are aged under 18 years, and I ask:
(a) how many of these families have been identified as requiring parenting support;
(b) how many of these families have had children placed into the care of the CEO;
(c) how many currently receive parenting support; and
(d) what is the nature of the support provided?
Hon Sue Ellery replied:
(a)–(d) The Department of Communities does not capture the level of data to be able to identify whether people diagnosed with an intellectual disability have children aged under 18 years. Similarly, when families have been identified as needing parenting support or when children are placed in the care of the CEO, the Department does not capture the level of data to identify if a parent has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability.
