(1) Does the government intend to review the plan within the next 12 months?

(2) If yes to (1) —

(a) what is the reason for reviewing the plan at this stage;

(b) when is the review scheduled to begin; and

(c) will there be a consultation process?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

I am advised of the following.

(1) Yes, the government is currently reviewing the “Better Choices. Better Lives Western Australia n Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Plan 2015 – 2025” — the plan.

(2)      (a) The plan provides a range of options for investment decisions and priority setting for all levels of government and non - government stakeholders based on the optimal mix of mental health, alcohol and other drug services required for the population of Western Australia , and subject to regular budgetary processes. The plan includes a commitment for the Mental Health Commission to revisit the service modelling framework every two years to ensure the latest evidence and population demographics are taken into account, and its implementation remains responsive to emerging trends.

(b) The plan update is in progress and is scheduled to be released in 2018.

(c) Stakeholders, including the community, will be invited to provide feedback on the draft plan update, which is expected to be released for comment towards the end of 2017.
